Back At The Gym / Back To Performing - 2 Months Post Surgery

Hello all you equally Not That Impressive people. Remember when I say that I dont mean to minimalize any of my accomplishments and having reached my goals, rather it is meant to be a call to realize that you can achieve and push yourself the same way. You dont have to live your life looking at goals and what you want for your body, your well-being, your fitness as unattainable. Nothing I did was impressive. Nothing you do will be impressive. But nothing will stay nothing if an action is not taken.
Today I was in Mexico for my 2 month post surgery evaluation and all is great. I'm excited to have step 1 of my new body here and present. The next step will be to do the same and remove excess skin and all from my abdomen, hopefully in January or February of 2019. Meanwhile I can work towards now addressing my abdomen without the back pain my chest was causing me before.
Throughout my recover, I have continued to workout with my November Project - SD tribe, sometimes adapting to the workout, sometimes pushing it but today was another big step for me. Today, I returned to Performance 360, my gym. It was my first workout back at P360 & true to Joalby fashion I did it the very day the surgeon cleared me to return working out. Took a 6am Shred Clas complete with burpees, cal rows, dumbbell and kettlebell movements and my favourite 5 100meter partney relay sprints. It feels great to be back.

In other news, I am the Resident Anthem Singer for ASC SAN DIEGO Pro Soccer this season. Y'all should 100% come see a game.
Even more news, I plan on getting a "NOT THAT IMPRESSIVE" teeshirt design made and releasing it in a few months to coincide with the release of the Not That Impressive blog website. With me having to pay for all my surgeries 100% out of my own pocket (no insurance, no financial assistance, no financing), my hopes are that sales of the shirts can offset some of the cost of the next procedure and more lengthy and expensive recovery.

6 Weeks Post Surgery - Los Angeles, Denver & PRs

It's been three weeks since my last post. Life has been busy. I am now 6 weeks post surgery and I am making it a point to get back to my life and my focus on fitness as soon as possible.
While Im not technically cleared to start lifting again until April 20th, I've kept myself busy in many other ways because being not that impressive doesn't mean not pushing yourself anyway.
In the last three weeks I have joined November Project Los Angeles for a Running Tour of China Town, November Project Denver for an epic Easter Egg Fitness Hunt, returned to November Project SD Stairs and... I have crossed Colorado off my 50 States Running List by doing back to back 1 Mile & 10k Races. Even at altitude, I was able to hit a PR on my 10k time.
I had a friend visit from Australia, I got to reunite with one of my boys Jacob in Denver who I hadn't seen in 10yrs. I have regained my love for running. I have suffered from altitude sickness and a cold. All that said I still got my workouts in.
My plans for whats next are awesome.
Returning to Performance 360 in 2 weeks, running The North Face Endurance Challenge Series Marathon Relay in September, more races and introducing calisthenics elements into my training. If it scares me, it only makes me want to do it more.
I would have never felt confident enough to take these steps in my former body. I'm alive.
I still don't feel anything I've done up until now is all that impressive, whether it be my 140+ lb weight loss, my running achievements this far, my focus on fitness, my desire to STILL be love in amd through all I do, still not that impressive. But stay tuned, I'm just getting started.
